Sustainable Eco-Village Development and Support

Ayaresa Eco-Village (Healing Eco-Village)

Ayaresa is an Akan word meaning “healing.” The Ayaresa Eco-Village is envisioned as a place where land, people, and culture are restored together — through sustainable agriculture, ecological education, public health practice, and community-led development.

Located near Techiman Town and Forikrom Village in Ghana’s Brong Ahafo Region, this initiative represents Rising Sun Development Center’s long-term commitment to building resilient, locally driven systems that support health, livelihoods, and environmental stewardship. Inspired by the KASI Institute model in Ghana — a hybrid eco-resort and training center rooted in indigenous ecological knowledge — Ayaresa will serve as a living space for learning, restoration, and community empowerment.

Vision & Purpose

Our vision is to cultivate a vibrant, culturally grounded eco-village where sustainable livelihoods, education, and wellness flourish in harmony with the natural environment. Ayaresa will function as a community anchor and demonstration site where local residents, youth, and global partners collaborate to address urgent challenges related to climate resilience, food security, water access, renewable energy, and economic opportunity.

This initiative is rooted in the belief that meaningful sustainability begins with local leadership, cultural knowledge, and responsible land stewardship.

Core Program Components

Sustainable Agriculture & Food Sovereignty

Community members and participants will engage in regenerative farming, organic crop production, and agroforestry practices tailored to Brong Ahafo’s ecology. Demonstration gardens, seed-saving initiatives, and soil restoration projects will strengthen nutrition outcomes, food security, and climate-adaptive agricultural skills.

Ecological Training & Applied Learning

Ayaresa will host hands-on workshops and training programs focused on practical, income-generating sustainability skills, including:

  • Solar and renewable energy systems
  • Eco-building with earth and bamboo materials
  • Medicinal and culinary herb cultivation
  • Water conservation and small-scale irrigation
  • Organic and regenerative agriculture

These offerings uplift indigenous wisdom while expanding pathways for local employment and entrepreneurship.

Community Wellness & Cultural Continuity

Ayaresa will include spaces for movement, reflection, and cultural exchange that foster healing and intergenerational learning. Story circles, traditional crafts, and cultural celebrations will strengthen community identity and collective well-being.

Youth Leadership & Economic Pathways

Young people from Techiman, Forikrom, and surrounding communities will be prioritized through fellowships, apprenticeships, and enterprise development opportunities. Through mentorship and experiential learning, youth will gain the tools to launch sustainability-focused social enterprises rooted in justice and community benefit.

Sustainable Design & Long-Term Impact

The eco-village will follow green infrastructure principles, utilizing passive cooling, solar energy, locally sourced materials, rainwater harvesting, and permaculture-based site planning. These strategies will reduce environmental impact while increasing long-term resilience.

By integrating public health, ecological education, and economic development, Ayaresa Eco-Village will:

  • Expand sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural families
  • Strengthen food sovereignty and environmental resilience
  • Equip youth with leadership and technical skills
  • Support locally defined models of healing and self-determination

Ayaresa is more than a place — it is a living ecosystem of learning, restoration, and growth that honors ancestral wisdom while preparing communities for the future.
